May 13 (Tuesday EST): My mom called!
As usual, I continued to try to reach my folks on the phone throughout the days. Ding, I got a call from my mom, what a nice surprise. We captured some details, then the phone went dead. But that was good enough for me. The death toll has reached 12,000 by now…the schools in Chengdu were all halted, lots of things were paused..
