Earthquake in Chengdu - May 12

A devesdating earthquake (7.9) shook Sichuan, China on May 12, the epicenter was Wenchuan which is a nearby county from Chengdu my hometown. This posting captures the conversations and thoughts from the folks around Chengdu.

Note: I live in Georgia, which is Eastern timezone (EST); Chengdu is 12 hour ahead of us. So if it's 10am here in Georgia, it's 10pm in Chengdu same day.

May 13 (Tuesday EST): My mom called!

As usual, I continued to try to reach my folks on the phone throughout the days. Ding, I got a call from my mom, what a nice surprise. We captured some details, then the phone went dead. But that was good enough for me.

The death toll has reached 12,000 by now…the schools in Chengdu were all halted, lots of things were paused..
